Ebbsfleet v Oxford

Record signing Michael Gash believes it is only a matter of time before he starts scoring goals for Ebbsfleet.

The £20,000 striker moved to Stonebridge Road this summer from Cambridge City and has started up-front in each of the Fleet’s games this season.

The 21-year-old scored 23 goals in Blue Square South last season but is yet to score his first goal for the club.

Gash will be hoping to get off the mark when Ebbsfleet host Oxford on Saturday.

Confidence

He said: “I enjoyed my time at Cambridge City but believed I could make the step up. Everyone has given me confidence here and I think I’m doing well. I just need to get a goal.

“I want to get off the mark. I’m still not sure about the first goal we scored against Mansfield on the opening day of the season.

“Some people have given it to Luke Moore while others haven’t.

“I think the majority are going with him so if I can get a goal that is definitely mine I’ll be happy.”

The club’s record signing has started up-front alongside Luke Moore and is well aware of the competition for places.

He added: “You’ve got to work hard to impress the manager in training and in games.

“At the moment I think all the strikers are doing a job.

“It’s going to be tough but you want competition for places to make you raise your game and play the best you can.”
