Antonio German continued his rich vein of form in pre-season with a double at Faversham.
The young striker is trying to fight his way into Peter Taylor’s team ahead of the League 1 opener on August 9.
His double, including one from the penalty spot, took his pre-season tally to four.
The Gills comfortably won the match against their Ryman League opponents but fell behind early on to a goal from Dean Grant.
Assistant boss Andy Hessenthaler was overseeing the Gills at Salters Lane, while boss Peter Taylor took a team at Dover. Leon Legge was named captain.
The scores were levelled when Luke Norris converted a corner from Bradley Dack, notching his second goal of the summer.
German then put the Gills infront on 33 minutes, despite off-side appeals.
Four more goals followed for the Gills after the break. Just before the hour Faversham’s David Botterill volleyed into his own net from another Dack corner.
Midfielder Amine Linganzi headed home to make it 4-1 and German added his second on 78 minutes.
A foul on Gills trialist Josh Stanford had led to a penalty and German was the man to bury the spot-kick.
Gillingham wrapped things up nine minutes from time when young Michael Freiter added a sixth off the underside of the bar.
Faversham substitute keeper Rob French got injured while conceding the sixth goal and after a brief delay in finding the original keeper Simon Overland, he returned to the field for the final few minutes.
