GILLINGHAM left fans feeling frustrated after a lacklustre 0-0 draw with Derby County at Priestfield on Saturday.
Tommy Johnson almost got Gills off to the perfect start in the fourth minute when he went on a mazy run leaving Richard Jackson in his wake, but his well-struck shot found the side netting.
The home side looked the brightest in the first half as Nicky Southall and David Perpetuini got the better of the huge, lumbering figures of Ian Taylor and Tom Huddlestone in midfield.
An Ian Cox header, another Johnson effort and one from Paul Smith gave Gills’ fans hope, but that turned into irritation as efforts kept going wide.
The game ended as it had begun with a great chance for Gillingham. Nyron Nosworthy, who switched from defence to attack in the second half, unleashed a low shot destined for the bottom corner until Lee Grant stuck out a hand to produce the save of the game.
