GILLS turned in a fantastic first half performance as Darren Byfield and Iwan Roberts struck at each end of the half.
Leeds looked uncomfortable against Gills three pronged attack that looked lively and menacing throughout an action packed 45 minutes.
Byfield took just six minutes to net his first Gills goal with a deflected shot that left Leeds keeper Neil Sullivan wrong footed.
Byfield came close to netting a second, on his home debut, as he flicked Paul Smith's pass over Sullivan only to see it bounce off the top of the bar.
Gills made it two just a minute before the interval as Roberts, another making his first league appearance at bPriesfield, picked up Agyemang's right sided cross and buried the ball under the keeper and into the net.
On the down side Nyron Nosworthyl limped off after just 21 minutes, to be replaced by player manager Andy Hessenthaler.
