GILLINGHAM fought back to win 2-1 against Nottingham Forest on Saturday to ease their relegation concerns and condemn their opponents to their first defeat under Joe Kinnear.
With 10 senior players missing, it was a strange looking Gills team that took to the field, but they pulled together and came from behind to take the three points.
Nick Barmy had put the visitors ahead on 26 minutes, pouncing to half volley the ball past the helpless Lars Hirschfeld, who is loan from Spurs.
It took a spark of class from striker Patrick Agyemang to energise the side and from then on Gills dominated.
The winning goal was all about team spirit when the excellent Danny Spiller scored from close range, following up and supporting a decent effort from Kevin James.
Forest were reduced to 10 men after having defender Alan Rogers sent off for violent conduct. The result sees Gills leapfrog their opponents into 19th place with games in hand on those around them.
