Gillingham lost at home in League 2 for only the second time this season after conceding a stoppage-time goal on Tuesday night.

Lincoln City?s French winger Danny N?Guessan stole the points for the visitors after breaking clear of the Gills? defence and slotting home.

Simeon Jackson?s penalty separated the sides at half-time but the Imps levelled soon after the interval with a spectacular Horsfield strike which set the game up for a frantic finale.

Gillingham striker Jackson netted the Gills opener from the spot after 25 minutes. A fine flowing move was halted as City defender Frank Sinclair pushed Adam Miller over in the area and Jackson bagged his 14th goal of the season.

Gillingham had come close a couple of times before that with keeper Rob Burch making a great save to deny Nicky Southall, while Dennis Oli also headed wide.

City almost hit back, however, and only a spectacular save from Gills keeper Simon Royce kept their lead intact as he punched N?Guessan?s close range effort over the bar.

The Imps stormed back into the match with seven minutes of the second-half gone when striker Horsfield took the ball on his chest, turned and fired into the top corner past Royce from 30 yards.

Burch made a great one-handed save from Southall as the Gills looked for a way back into the lead. Miller thought he had won another penalty with 66 minutes gone but the referee instead booked him for diving.

A good stop from Royce saved Mark Bentley?s embarrassment as his clearance only found N?Guessan. The Frenchman?s powerful shot couldn?t beat the Gills keeper, though.

Gillingham?s hearts were broken when N?Guessan burst clear of Stuart Lewis and he kept his cool as Royce raced out but was unable to stop the shot.

Gills manager Mark Stimson reacted to the defeat in upbeat fashion and insisted some insolated boos at the end from the crowd were unwarranted.

He said: ?I was surprised we didn?t get anything from the game because we played well against a good side.

?I said before the game they had pace and that?s what did us in the end. It?s disappointing that our run has been stopped but we?ll get on with it.

?The players didn?t deserve that boo at the end. Exeter away, it was thoroughly deserved but it?s the only time this season.

?Even the embarrassing result at Shrewsbury, if you were at the game that shouldn?t have been the scoreline.

?I couldn?t fault any of them. I didn?t make any substitutions because I thought everyone was playing really well. I thought maybe Nicky Southall wouldn?t last the 90 but he did and he was outstanding and I was surprised he didn?t get man-of-the-match."
