GILLINGHAM'S youngsters were beaten 3-2 in a pre-season friendly against Welling last night.

Gills took the lead early in the match but Welling turned the game around in the second half to take the victory.

Scorers for Gillingham were trialist Matt Bodkin and youth player Akwasi Edusei. Jamie Day completed the scoring for the home side following penalties in each half from Paul Booth and Phil Collins.

A busy week of action continues tonight as Gillingham take a side to face Conference team Canvey Island. The kick off is at 7.45pm.
