Gills agree deal for experienced keeper

GILLINGHAM have further boosted their squad by capturing experienced Scottish goalkeeper Derek Stillie.

The 33-year-old has signed a one-year contract and moves to Priestfield after spending two years with Scottish Premier League side Dundee United.

Gills fans will have fond memories of their last encounter with Stillie; the Scotsman was in goal for Wigan Athletic when Gillingham won 3-2 in the Play-Off final at Wembley to reach the Championship in 2000.

Stillie began his career at Notts County before joining Aberdeen in 1995. Following his spell at Wigan, he moved back up north and was a virtual ever-present in the Dunfermline side that reached the Scottish Cup final in 2004.

Ironically, he joined Dundee Utd in 2005 as a replacement for the Gillingham-bound Tony Bullock. Stillie has been named in two Scotland squads, but is yet to win a cap.

In May he announced he wanted to find a London club in order to combine football with his legal studies.
