Gillingham boss Mark Stimson added two players to his squad on the eve of the season.
First, winger Tyrone Berry arrived on a one-month contract - and then Tottenham youngster Leigh Mills joined, initially on a one-month loan deal.
Berry, 21, spent time at Stimson's former club Stevenage Borough last season - and has also had a spell with Rushden and Diamonds.
He began his career as a youngster with Crystal Palace, scored in the 4-1 friendly win over Aveley and impressed with his pace in the recent victory over Thurrock.
Mills, a 20-year-old centre-back, started his career at Swindon Town's Centre of Excellence before switching to Spurs Youth Academy. He has been capped by England up to Under-19 level.
Both go straight into the squad for Saturday's curtain-raiser at Bournemouth.
