Tranmere Rovers v Gillingham

GILLINGHAM travel to Tranmere on Saturday in the hope of turning around the poor away form that has seen them pick up just two points from four games.

Neale Cooper’s men face a Tranmere side yet to lose at home, but the Gills manager believes his side are capable of getting something from the match, especially after the morale boosting win against Portsmouth in midweek.

He said: "We know what we’ve got to do and we’ll do our utmost to get three points, although if we leave with just one then I’d still be happy.

"Tranmere have got quality all the way through their side, with the lad they brought in from Stoke, Chris Greenacre, banging in the goals.

"But we got ourselves a good win on Tuesday, getting that bit of luck we needed, and hopefully we can come back with something and then get maximum points from the next two home games."

Cooper knows what it’s like to experience a big fall after an impressive win, although he’s sure this won’t be the case at Prenton Park.

"I’ve seen in the past and experienced it myself, as have a few players here, that you have done really well in the cup and then on Saturday fall flat on your face," he said.

"Hopefully, we’ve learned from our experiences and that won’t happen this weekend.

"There were a few tired legs in the changing rooms after Tuesday’s game but they’ll be fit and raring to go."
