JEPSON: "We’ll keep looking to use the loan system"

GILLINGHAM manager Ronnie Jepson’s search for a fourth striker continues but he will not be rushed into a panic signing.

Although he has already snapped up forwards Dean McDonald, Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu and Gary Mulligan during the close season, Jepson knows he must find another striker having lost top scorer Darren Byfield to Millwall.

He said: "It comes down to money. We lost Darren Byfield because we couldn’t afford him so that shows the difficulties of keeping a decent striker.

"We’ll keep looking to use the loan system but I don’t want to bring players in for the sake of bringing them in."
