Gills boss to release trialist

Trialist Michael Burns is unlikely to extend his stay at Priestfield

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson admits he is unlikely to offer midfielder Michael Burns a deal.

The 19-year-old Bolton player has been on trial with Gills as Stimson took a look at him with a view to bringing him in on loan.

Burns, however, has failed to shine with his outings at Birmingham and last night at Dover and the Gills manager will now look elsewhere.

“He hasn’t done as well as I would have thought and we probably won’t be taking him,” said Stimson.

“It gives us an opportunity to look at someone else.”

Stimson will include a couple of new trialists on Wendesday night at Aveley, including a left winger.
