Gills campaign fund stands at £7,000

THE Friends of Gillingham have raised £7,000 towards their £20,000 target to help the club invest in new players.

Gills boss Ronnie Jepson, however, insists he is in no rush for the money and is happy to wait until the target has been met to spend it.

Jepson said: "We are always looking to strengthen the squad but if someone gave me £20,000 right now, I wouldn't rush out to spend it just for the sake of it.

"I would prefer to wait until the end of the season when more players are available and we will have done the homework to make sure we spend the fans' money wisely."
