Stimson ended a two month chase with the capture of McCammon

Mark Stimson’s search for a striker came to fruition today (Thursday) after clinching the signing of Doncaster striker Mark McCammon.

The Gillingham manager had been keen to add a target-man to the squad and the striker has signed a three-year deal with the club.

McCammon played a big part in Doncaster’s promotion to the Championship last season and will now provide the height and weight to Gills’ strike force in League 2.

The 29-year-old stands at 6’5 and has a wealth of experience having played for a number of lower league teams including Bristol City, Brighton, Millwall, Brentford, Swindon and Charlton.

McCammon attracted interest from a number of other clubs, including League 1 side Millwall, but Stimson finally got his man after a long and patient wait.

The Barbados international played 38 games for Doncaster last season, with six goals, but it will be his presence and power up-front for Gills as much as anything that will be key to helping them achieve promotion back to League 1.

McCammon will begin training with Gillingham on Monday ahead of Tuesday's trip to La Manga.
