Gillingham 2 Bradford City 1

GILLINGHAM recorded their sixth consecutive league victory after beating Bradford 2-1 to finally secure their League 1 status.

A goal early in each half, from Tommy Black and Michael Flynn sent the Gills on their way but Bradford made a fight of it late on, with Danny Cadamarteri's 75th minute effort.

Just nine minutes into the first half Gillingham took the lead, when Matt Jarvis bamboozled the Bradford defence on the flank, before sending in a low cross for Black to stab home.

The Gills dominated the half, with Danny Jackman's goal line clearance the only real moment of concern for the home side, as Bradford failed to get going.

Michael Flynn got the second half off on a high with Gills' second, firing into the roof of the net, after Jackman had threaded the ball through to the midfielder on 54 minutes.

Bradford came back into it when Cadamarteri muscled his way through the defence to make it 2-1 and Jason Brown had to make two stunning saves from Dean Windass to ensure the three points went to Gillingham.

Gillingham: Brown, Wallis, Cox, Sancho, Jackman, Black (Spiller 87), Crofts, Pouton (Flynn 32), Jarvis, Mulligan, Byfield (Harris 87).
Subs Not Used: Crichton, Johnson.
Attendance: 7,281.
