GILLINGHAM target Iwan Roberts is reportedly being lined up by Swiss side FC Basel.
The Swiss Super League champions, managed by ex-Spurs boss Christian Gross, are lining up a swoop for the striker released by Division 1 champions Norwich at the end of last season.
But Gills will feel they remain favourites after Roberts said a move to Priestfield would interest him despite the lure of Champions League football in Switzerland.
His agent Neil Featherby said: “As expected, we have had contact from a number of clubs with regards to Iwan and his future.
“He’s taken his family away on holiday, where he will spend a bit of time discussing his options with his wife.
“Once back, I’m sure he’ll have a much clearer idea of which way he wants to go and then we will sit down and talk to the clubs that have serious intentions of signing him.
“He is keeping himself fit and is really looking forward to a new challenge as he knows he still has at least a good couple of years left playing at a high level.
“He’ll be a great asset for the right club as his experience and respect by all in the game will lift the players around him, as well as the fans.”
Tickets have gone on sale for Gillingham's pre-season friendlies at Priestfield.
Dutch side Willem II visit on July 28, with Charlton travelling the short distance down the A2 two days later.
