Gills handed home Trophy tie

GILLINGHAM will face Nottingham Forest at home in the first round of the newly-named Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The game is provisionally scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, just three days after the Gills face Forest at Priestfield in the league.

The competition, formerly the Football League Trophy, involves the 48 League 1 and 2 division sides with the final being played at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Teams are required to play the majority of their first team players in the games and £3,000 will be on offer to the first round qualifiers.

Free tickets will be available to children under 16 for the Trophy matches, when accompanying an adult, while the scrapping of extra-time means all ties will be concluded at a reasonable hour.

Any game ending level after 90 minutes will immediately be decided on penalties.
