FORMER manager Keith Peacock will be back at Priestfield on January 3 after Gillingham received a plum tie at home to Premier League near neighbours Charlton in Sunday's FA Cup, third round draw.
Peacock, now Charlton's assistant manager to Alan Curbishley, was in charge at Priestfield between 1981 and 1987 and is still revered by older Gills fans. He lives in Kent at Barnehurst.
The tie guarantees Gillingham a full-house with demand for tickets certain to outstrip supply with £50,000 awaiting the winners from the FA's prize fund.
Charlton have an active supporters' club in the Medway Towns while boasting a huge fan base throughout Kent. It will be only the second FA Cup meeting between the two clubs. The first was during the 1933-34 season which Charlton won 1-0 at The Valley.
The last time the two met was on Monday, May 8, 1995 when Charlton beat Gillingham 4-2 after extra-time at Priestfield to win the Kent Senior Cup in front of a crowd of 3,048. Adrian Foster scored both Gillingham goals.
