Gillingham’s League 1 victory at Sheffield United has come at a cost.
An injury to leading scorer Danny Kedwell has left him doubtful ahead of Monday’s FA Cup replay at non-league Brackley.
Kedwell picked up a shin injury in the process of scoring Gills’ opener – his ninth goal of the season – against United on Saturday. He limped off shortly after midfielder Steven Gregory was withdrawn with a groin injury.
Gills boss Peter Taylor said: “Gregory is definitely going to be out and I am sure Kedwell is going to be out as well as he has a bit of a hole in his shin.”
Taylor will also be missing another three of those who started at United.
Loan midfielder Danny Hollands is unable to play as his parent club Charlton don’t want him cup-tied, while newcomers Craig Fagan and Elliott Hewitt are also ineligible, as they weren’t registered ahead of the original fixture against Brackley last weekend.
Looking towards that game, Taylor said: “It will be hard and they showed at Priestfield that they are a good team. They came to Priestfield and were better than us.
“We were a little disappointing but Brackley were good. We need to make sure we turn that around and are determined to do that.”
Brackley are without a senior keeper for the tie, due to Billy Turley’s suspension and look set to field youngster Alastair Worby, who kept a clean sheet on Saturday in a goalless FA Trophy draw with Leek Town.
Gillingham will have Charlie Lee back, following his one-game ban for picking up five cautions and he may well fill in at right-back due to the absence of Hewitt and Michael Harriman, who is on international duty.
