Gillingham are hoping to secure midfielder Curtis Weston on a permanent deal.
The Leeds player is currently on a one month loan but manager Mark Stimson has seen enough to want to take him on permanently.
Weston, 21, has been in talks with Leeds on Wednesday about terminating his contract and Gillingham will be waiting in the wings to snap him up if that comes off.
“If he were to become available we would definitely be in the hunt for him,” said Stimson.
“He’s a creative midfield player with a little nasty streak about him and that’s maybe from his Millwall days.
“You don’t become a the youngest player to play in an FA Cup final without having something about you. He’s definitely got that.
“He can see a pass and when he came on against Luton at home he played two or three through balls that we haven’t had since Kevin Maher was here.”
