GILLINGHAM goalkeeper Kelvin Jack has suffered a broken leg while on trial at Championship club Barnsley.
The Trinidad and Tobago international sustained the fracture during a training session on Friday.
Manager Mark Stimson said: "We heard that Kelvin jumped for a ball, caught it, landed and broke his leg. That is about as much as we know.
"It is a spiral fracture so he didn't have to have an operation but he is in plaster.
"We wish him all the best and hope he has a speedy recovery."
The 31-year-old has made just 11 appearances for Gillingham since signing from Dundee at the start of last season.
Stimson added: "It's a bit frustrating for me but probably more so for Kelvin.
"He has gone to a Championship club with an opportunity to play. It is great that he took the trial to show how good he is. If it had come off, it would have been good for Kelvin to play in the Championship.
"It also would have been good for me as it would've released a good chunk of money for me to go and get another player.
"These things happen in football and I just hope Kelvin gets back playing as soon as possible."
