GOALKEEPER Jason Brown resisted temptation from four Premier League clubs before signing his new three-year contract for Gillingham last week, it has emerged.

The club’s Wales Under-21 international disclosed he was made aware of their interest while on international duty. A Scottish club had also asked his advisors to be kept informed.

Brown, Gillingham’s Player of the Year in waiting, admitted his head was turned by Premiership interest as his rags to riches story continued after Gillingham snatched him from a future cleaning bus shelters following his release by Charlton and rejection by Sheffield United.

“I was informed that four Premier League clubs were interested,” he revealed. “I won't name them, but one is in the bottom half of the table and the others in the top half. A Scottish club were also awaiting developments.”

Brown, who admits he was ready to consider his options next month had a new contract not been forthcoming, stressed he is delighted to remain at Priestfield.
