SAUNDERS: Has recovered from a broken leg

WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has completed a major transfer coup after signing Gillingham midfielder Mark Saunders on a one-month loan.

Saunders, 34, has returned to full fitness after breaking his leg at the start of last season and is seen as a huge signing by the Wings boss.

Pennock said: "It's brilliant for Welling to bring Mark Saunders to the club.

"He watched us beat Dorchester and it will help both of us. He'll give us more quality and depth to the squad while we'll help him increase his match-fitness.

"He was more than happy to join Welling and I know that the fans will enjoy watching him play."

Pennock has also signed former Gills striker Matt Bodkin on a non-contract basis, with leading goalscorer Danny Kedwell suspended for 28 days.

Kedwell, who has struck four goals to help the Wings to fourth place, starts his ban at Eastleigh on Saturday.

Bodkin, who has also played for Nottingham Forest, will be keen to impress Pennock.

Pennock said: "Matt Bodkin is quick and has great ability. Hopefully he can do well for us and give us something different up front."
