Gillingham v Wigan

GILLINGHAM'S defenders will have their work cut out when they face league leaders Wigan at Priestfield on Saturday.

They will be up against Wigan's strike force of Jason Roberts and Nathan Ellington who have netted 36 goals between them this season.

Gillingham's assistant manager Ronnie Jepson said the players needed to back themselves against the "twin terrors" but admitted it would be a tough task.

Jepson stressed: "What you have to do is back yourself as a player - and the manager backs the players 100 per cent - and just stand up and be counted.

"They did against Carl Cort and Kenny Miller, they did against Marlon Harewood, Zamora and Sheringham and there are no mugs in these top teams.

"But that’s what you are in the division for. You shouldn’t have any fear. You should be looking forward to pitting your wits against them."

Wigan went top of the table with a 2-1 win over Coventry on Wednesday night.
