Gillingham 4 Bromley 1
TWO goals apiece from Mark Bentley and substitute Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu helped Gillingham to reach the FA Cup second round at the expense of Bromley at Priestfield on Saturday.
The Gills took the lead on 31 minutes when Matt Jarvis did well to keep the ball in before Gary Mulligan's shot was deflected into the path of Bentley to head home.
The home side doubled their lead just before the hour mark when Bentley got on the end of Clint Easton's cross to score from close range at the far post.
The Lillywhites gave themselves a lifeline with 20 minutes to go when Nic McDonnell finished well after being played in superbly by Gareth Williams.
But the home side restored their two-goal advantage in the 84th minute when substitute Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu turned in Matt Jarvis' cross from close range.
Ndumbu-Nsungu then completed the scoring in stoppage time when he turned his marker and finished well.
Earlier, Bromley had had a half chance just before the half hour, but McDonnell just failed to connect properly with a header from Bobby Bowry's cross.
And Kelvin Jack was forced into a save from a well-struck Sam Wood volley just before the Gills scored their second.
Gillingham: Jack, Jupp, Cox, Johnson (Sancho 27), Easton, Bentley, Pouton (Crofts 60), Flynn, Jarvis, McDonald (Ndumbu-Nsungu 71), Mulligan.
