Grimsby v Gillingham
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson is expecting another battle on Saturday when his promotion chasers visit a team fighting to retain their league status.
The Gills sit second in League 2, their highest position of the season, while opponents Grimsby are second-bottom.
Stimson’s side have had to compromise their playing style and fight for the points in recent weeks so the clash at Blundell Park should be no different.
Stimson said: “We’ll give Grimsby the respect they deserve and make sure our game is right. If we can perform like we have done recently then we should come away with something.
“It’s the first time we’ve been this high so we’ll see how the players react to it. They should be confident because they are in a good position but they shouldn’t be overly confident; we’ll make sure of that.
“We’ll go into the game realising who we are playing against, a team who are struggling and fighting for their lives, and are going to be up for the battle. We’ve got to match that.
“At this stage it’s not about playing well it’s about winning. Winning games is all we’re here for and if you win and play well then that’s a double bonus.
“It’s an exciting time and hopefully an enjoyable one. If you would have said at the start of the season we would be sat here with eight games to go we would have taken it. Now we have to maintain what we’ve been doing and have the belief to carry on.”
Gillingham have no fresh injuries and Mark McCammon is expected to be fit after picking up a stomach bug in the week.
