Gillingham chief executive Mark Jones has dismissed the idea of moving the club’s home game with Luton to avoid a clash with Kent’s trip to Lord’s on August 16.
Mr Jones admitted the club had considered moving their League 2 encounter after Kent won through to the final of the Friends Provident Trophy but decided against it.
“It’s not possible for us to do it,” he said. “We thought about it but the situation is that it’s our first home league game of the season and that has to be on a Saturday.
“We support Kent Cricket Club and we would like them to be successful and we wish them all the best from us.”
