Gills score own goal over complaints

GILLINGHAM were among the Division 1 clubs receiving the most complaints last season.

The annual report on Customer Charters 2002, published by the Football League, shows the kent club were among the clubs receiving the most complaints in all five categories between June 2001 and May 2002.

But the figures returned by the club, according to the report, are only approximate figures. This, the report claims, demonstrated that no formal recording system is in place.

Gills received 100 complaints about ticketing and came fourth in this category someway behind Birmingham City who registered 420. They received the second highest number of complaints regarding staff conduct with 30, just two behind Notts Forest.

The club were also second in the stadium safety category with the report stating they received 20 complaints. The highest number of complaints received in this category was 27 by Sheffield Wednesday.

But Gills were out on their own with regard to complaints about communication. The club received 50 complaints on this issue, a long way in front of the nearest rivals Wolves who had just 13, and made up just under half of the number in this field.
