TEENAGE defender Adam Bygrave has joined Gillingham from Premiership side Reading.

The 18-year-old has joined on an initial month’s loan to add much-needed defensive cover for manager Mark Stimson.

Bygrave has yet to taste first team action for Reading but has made a big impression in the reserves.

“He’s a player I rate highly,” said Stimson. “I’ve watched him a number of times and I think he’ll do a good job for us.

“He has all the needed qualities and I thank Steve Coppell for allowing him to come here and play games.”
