Bristol City 6 Gillingham 0
GILLINGHAM'S problems deepened to catastrophic proprtions following their 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Bristol City on Saturday.
The shocker in the West Country left Ronnie Jepson's side staring a second successive relegation in the face just days after the club off-loaded their chief executive in another cost-cutting move.
Graham Hover, who held the position for only seven months, became the latest person to exit Priestfield as the club's finances continue to dictate events on and off the pitch.
Jepson, who has had to slash his playing squad in order to appease the money men, admitted he is finding it hard to make any headway - and the weekend ended with the Gills back in the League 1 drop zone for the first time since November.
Jepson said: "I've been straightforward with the players since I came into the job. I know where their faults lie but it's like one step forward and two steps back.
"We put in a performance at Forest that I was quite pleased with. We came here well prepared after a week's training and they put in a performance like that, which has happened too frequently this season.
"We'll now try and get the three or four wins, or whatever we need to stay in this league, and then changes will have to be made at this football club."
