GILLINGHAM captain Andrew Crofts admits the club's current position is hurting him as much as the fans.
Crofts was born and raised in the Medway Towns and he's feeling the pressure more than most but is confident the team can lift themselves out of trouble.
He said: "We're in a position we're not happy about. We're in the bottom four at the moment but there are still 15 games to go and hopefully we can do something about it sooner rather than later.
"I'm a local lad and I've had a lot of good years at Gillingham. I don't like to see the club where it is as it hurts my pride. We have to do something about it.
"I know a lot of fans and they're sticking by us. There's no reason why we can't get out of it and we're working hard to put that right. We need to get out of it quick."
As captain, Crofts knows he must remain focused and he’s hoping the extra training put in this week will help them out when Huddersfield visit on Saturday.
"I've got to lead by example and, most importantly, enjoy my game," he said. "If I'm enjoying playing then that will rub off on the others. We have to enjoy our football, express ourselves and get the crowd going.
"Saturday was a disappointing result and it was a shame we didn't have a game in midweek so we could get it out of our system."
