Bournemouth 1 Gillingham 0
GILLINGHAM lost to the bottom-of-the-table side in League 1 for the second time in a week at Bournemouth on Saturday.
After slipping up against Port Vale at Priestfield in their last outing, the Gills conceded the only goal of the game at the division's current basement side on 34 minutes.
James Henry broke into the box and although Simon Royce parried his initial effort, Brett Pitman was on hand to sweep home.
Before that, Andrew Crofts was unlucky not to put the Gills ahead when his curled effort hit the outside of the post.
Striker Adam Miller should have equalised for the visitors three minutes after going behind but he shot well over when clean through.
Danny Hollands almost doubled Bournemouth's advantage in the 56th minute but Gillingham were saved by the upright.
And the post came to the Gills' rescue again with 14 minutes to play - the goalscorer Pitman denied this time.
Manager Mark Stimson said: "That was disappointing. Our last away game was fantastic but the result today was not.
"We couldn?t have started any better and we were in control but although we had the possession we did not test their keeper.
"We hit the post but they broke away and scored and to come in at half-time 1-0 down was frustrating and disappointing. The second half we huffed and puffed but so did Bournemouth."
