Huddersfield Town 3 Gillingham 1
VETERAN Andy Booth’s double strike ensured Ronnie Jepson’s return to Huddersfield was a miserable one.
Booth scored in each half after Luke Beckett’s third minute goal set the home team on their way to a comfortable win against a poor Gillingham side.
Gills got off to the worst possible start, falling two goals behind in the first eight minutes to close range headers from Beckett and Booth.
Gary Mulligan headed home from Nicky Southall’s deep cross on 69 minutes to give Jepson’s men hopes of salvaging a draw.
However, Booth fired home after the Gills defence failed to clear a corner with eight minutes left to complete the scoring.
Gillingham: Larrieu, Sancho, Chorley, Johnson, Jackman, Southall, Crofts, Flynn, Jarvis, Mulligan, McDonald (Ndumbu-Nsungu 74).Subs Not Used: Cox, Easton, Spiller, Collin.
