Gillingham 1 Scunthorpe United 3
SCUNTHORPE came from behind to claim all three points at Priestfield on Saturday.
The home side took the lead seven minutes before the break when Tommy Black sent Justin Cochrane clear with a superb flick and the on loan midfielder produced a fine finish for his first goal since joining the club.
But Scunthorpe were level within two minutes when Matthew Sparrow curled a brilliant shot past Jason Brown after being teed up by teenage striker Andrew Keogh.
The game was then decided in five second half minutes as Scunthorpe established a two goal lead.
First, a 59th minute free-kick from Ian Baraclough beat everyone in the box, but Richard Hinds reacted quickest to turn the ball in after it had hit the post and come back across the goal.
Then Cleveland Jackson got the better of Danny Jackman down Scunthorpe's right before sliding the ball across for Keogh to put into an empty net.
Danny Spiller had a good chance for Gillingham when it was still goalless but he failed to connect properly with a header and Scunthorpe were able to clear.
Gills injury worries increased in the first half when Sean Clohessy was forced off with a nasty head injury after an accidental clash with team-mate Ian Cox. Cox was able to continue after receiving stitches.
Ronnie Jepson's side are now just two points above the League 1 relegation zone.
