Young Gillingham striker Andy Pugh has joined Blue Square Premier side Grays on a one month loan.

Pugh, 19, has found it difficult to win a place in Gillingham’s first team squad and will now hope to gain experience with Grays.

Grays, one of Gillingham manager Mark Stimson’s former clubs, are fighting a battle against relegation and currently sit 18th in the table.

With just three appearances for the Gills all season, and all coming off the bench, the move will give Pugh chance to show what he can do.

Pugh spent a successful loan period at Folkestone earlier in the season.

Stuart Thurgood, meanwhile, has severed his ties with Gillingham after agreeing to cancel the remainder of his contract.

Thurgood has been on loan at Grays since August and ends his Gills career with 12 appearances to his name.
