Gills suffer in-form striker blow

Charlton want to prevent Chris Dickson being cup-tied
Charlton want to prevent Chris Dickson being cup-tied

Barnet v Gillingham

HOTSHOT striker Chris Dickson has been refused permission to play for Gillingham in Saturday's FA Cup first round tie at Barnet.

The on-loan Charlton forward, who has scored five goals in just six games since arriving at Priestfield, has been prevented from playing by Addicks boss Alan Pardew, who does not want him cup-tied.

New Gillingham manager Mark Stimson had pencilled Dickson in for a starting berth on Saturday. However, Pardew's decision has forced Stimson to rethink his plans.

He said: "It will be a blow. He's quick, a livewire and in great form, and from what I've seen of him this week he definitely would have played on Saturday.

"But when something like this happens, it always means there is an opportunity for someone else and I hope whoever comes in will take it."

Aside from Dickson, Stimson has a fully-fit squad from which to choose from.
