Mark Robson's future at Gillingham should be resolved this week.
The club’s non-contracted first team coach is in the hunt for a management job - rumoured to be at Charlton - but should that not materialise, a contract awaits him at Priestfield.
Gills boss Mark Stimson said: "If he doesn’t get that then I hope to tie him up here.
“It’s a management job and it’s a decent job if he were to get it. He is waiting to hear that call and if it’s good news for me, then he’ll stay here with us and if it’s not, then we’ll wish him the best and we’ll move on."
Stimson added: “I’m sure that one day he will be a manager whether it’s next week or a year or two. That’s his goal.”
