Gillingham v Darlington

Andy Barcham will be out to prove his fitness ahead of Gillingham's League 2 clash with Darlington on Tuesday night after sitting out the last two games.

Barcham took a blow to his knee in last weekend’s win over Bournemouth and Gills manager Mark Stimson is keen to see the forward return to action.

“He’s improving,” said the Gillingham boss. “It was touch and go on Saturday and we didn’t risk it, but the physio said he has a real good chance for Tuesday.

“Although we’ve won the last two games without him he’s been a miss.

“He adds something different to the team and we’ll wait to make a decision.”

Leading scorer Simeon Jackson took a knock on Saturday and was brought off as a precaution but he should be fit for the Darlington match.

The visitors have recently been handed a 10-point penalty after entering administration but visit Priestfield with the play-off positions still their aim.

“They have two games in hand over everyone else and if they win those two games they’ve still got an outside chance,” said Stimson.

“We’ve got to be ready for them and if we are then hopefully it will be another three points.”
