Gillingham v Oldham
GILLINGHAM boss Mark Stimson has targeted Oldham’s controversial striker Lee Hughes as the danger man at Priestfield on Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old striker joined Oldham after leaving prison, having served half of a six-year sentence for causing death by dangerous driving.
Hughes signed a two-year deal with the Lancashire side and he’s already beginning to show signs of the class he produced during his time at West Bromwich Albion.
Hughes has seven league goals in 15 games and Stimson knows he’ll have to be stopped if Gillingham are to get anything from the match.
Stimson said: "They’ve got some good players and Hughes up front is a top drawer player, he shouldn’t be playing at this level and we’ll have to be aware of him."
Oldham head to Priestfield off the back of a goalless draw at Yeovil and they sit in mid-table, just three points above Gillingham.
"Oldham have their big cup game at the weekend so if we can set about them early, be quick, test them and get in behind them then we can have a good evening," said Stimson.
Gills will be without central defender Simon King (hamstring) so Adam Bygrave, whose loan spell from Reading has been extended for a third month, is expected to start alongside Ian Cox at the heart of the back four.
