GILLINGHAM’S Andrew Crofts and Jason Brown are waiting in the wings to represent Wales in the World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan.

Both players were called up to the senior squad last week and were unused substitutes as Wales clinched a 3-2 win over Northern Ireland in Belfast on Saturday.

Now they will be hoping to make an appearance in front of their home fans in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on Wednesday.

Crofts told the official Gillingham website: "I’m over the moon to have been called up. It’s been a great experience for me and I’m enjoying every minute of it.

"I played the last six times for the under-21s who have some really good players. Obviously the jump up to the full squad is massive.

"Ryan Giggs, John Hartson, Karl Fletcher, Carl Robinson and Simon Davies are all massive players. They are all great players and I’m enjoying my time with them.

"It was a dream come true for me to even be on the bench. If I got to play in a little bit of the game against Azerbaijan I would be over the moon."

Gillingham will return to League 1 action against Yeovil at Priestfield on Saturday.
