Gillingham right-back Jack Evans will sign for Conference side Tamworth

Young defender Jack Evans will join Conference side Tamworth when his Gillingham contract expires.

The 20-year-old broke into the Gills’ first team under former boss Andy Hessenthaler, making seven appearances during the 2011/12 season.

But he found his chances at Priestfield limited last season, on the arrival of Martin Allen.

The right-back played just one more game for the Gills, appearing in the JPT game against Crawley in September last year.

He enjoyed a loan spell in the Blue Square Bet Premier last season, at Dartford, where he made 15 appearances.

Dartford’s part-time status meant his chances of returning to Princes Park for the new season were limited.

He joins the Lambs officially on July 1 when his Gills deal ends.
