GILLINGHAM goalkeeper Jason Brown is doubtful for Saturday's home game against Reading after aggravating a thigh strain in Monday night's training match at Gravesend.

He broke down early in the game after taking a goal kick and was immediately replaced by second choice Bertrand Bossu.

Brown first sustained the injury in the home game against Preston on December 13 when he was forced off at half time. He made his comeback on February 7 in the 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler signed Birmingham's Nico Vaesen on a two-month loan to replace Brown. He has since returned to St Andrews and gone back out on loan to Bradford City.

Hessenthaler admitted after Monday's game: "It looks as though I'm going to have to get on the phone to our friends in the Premier League and see if they can lend us a goalkeeper. Jason is struggling with his kicking so we'll have to wait and see.

"We can't get Nico Vaesen back because he's gone to Bradford so we'll have to look elsewhere."

Gillingham came from behind to win Monday's match 2-1 after Ben Abbey had given Fleet a first half lead. Andrew Crofts and Patrick Agyemang replied for Gillingham.

The Fleet included Mussa Sidibe, brother of Gillingham striker Mamady, in midfield.
