A FOURSOME representing Tenterden Golf Club made the most of ideal golfing conditions over the tough links of Princes Golf Club to win last Friday’s Matthew Walker benefit year golf day by seven points.
The stalwart Kent batsman and former vice-captain enjoyed a good turn out for the third event of his benefit season with over 50 golfers battling it out for team and individual Stableford honours.
Most teams included a Kent cricketer in their number with Martin Saggers, Geraint Jones, David Fulton, Robbie Joseph and occasional golfer Walker, all taking part.
The Tenterden Golf Club quartet of Mike Miller, Geoff Mitchell, Iain Murray and Lee Heasman were clear winners from a four skippered by ex-county captain Fulton, while Miller also proved individual winner with 37 Stableford points.
Walker’s next fund-raising even is a celebrity poker night at the Sportsman Casino in Old Quebec Street, London on Thursday, March 27 when you can pit your wits against Mark Ramprakash, athlete John Regis, Guinness Premiership rugby player Andy Goode, and Kent cricketers Min Patel, David Fulton and the beneficiary Walker.
A £250 buy-in includes poker lessons from 6pm, canapes and Champagne reception and complimentary beer and wine for the entire evening.
