Gillingham pair Stuart Thurgood and Adam Miller are relishing the prospect of facing their former side Grays today.

Miller spent time at Grays under manager Mark Stimson while Thurgood was signed from them last season and went back for a brief loan spell at the end of the previous campaign.

“It will be good to go back and see what kind of reception I get,” said Thurgood.

“There are a quite a few friends still there and I’m hoping they don’t kick me too much.

“We’re going to do our best to win, which I hope we do and give a few of their players a bit of stick and it will be interesting. It will be good to play against a lot of my old mates.”

Miller knows he may be in for some more stick, like he received against Stevenage but insists it won’t bother him.

He said: “No doubt I’ll get another boo or some reaction. I don’t know what I do to upset these people but I’ve obviously upset them in some way shape or form.

“You have to blank it out and you’re in the wrong game if you expect not to get any grief off any fans. If you do the business on the football pitch that shuts them up and that’s the best way and if you score that puts the final nail in the coffin and keeps them quiet.”

Miller grabbed Gills’ fourth goal against Faversham and he’s hungry for more.

“I would love to score against Grays and if I get a bit of welly I’ll be straight over to them fans,” he said.

“Scoring is such a great feeling and you never do get bored of it. I would like to chip in with a few more and I’m making a conscious effort to do that.”
