JUNIOR soccer in the Medway area is mourning the loss of one of its greatest servants following the death of Frank Woolley.
Mr Woolley, who was 85, had been president of the Medway Sunday League since 1966.
He was honoured with the Kent County Football Association's long and meritorious service award 10 years ago and two years ago received the Football Association's meritorious award.
He was one of the founder members of Red Dog Football Club in 1964 and fulfilled roles as player, manager, chairman and secretary at the club between 1966 and 1978.
Colin Boswell, a former long-serving secretary of the Sunday League and close friend of Mr Woolley's, said: "He was one of the last great characters of local junior football and will be sorely missed not only locally but throughout Kent."
