GERARD GREENE is out of the TP UK Championships at the first round stage after being beaten by Jimmy Michie 9-7.

The Rainham man got off to the worst possible start as he trailed 4-0 but bounced back to trail 5-3 at the interval.

But Michie got the better of the evening session and booked his place in round two where he will play Stephen Lee.

This latest defeat continues a run of poor form for the 30-year-old world number 26 who has been knocked out in the first round in all three major tournaments so far this season.
