Defender Greg Halford, who joined Charlton last season on loan from Sunderland, has joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old right-back moved to The Valley on January 31 after an unhappy spell at the Stadium of Light following his £2m move from Reading.
He made 15 appearances for the Addicks and scored two goals. He indicated at the end of last season that he wanted to remain at the club to be nearer his family in Chelmsford but his wages proved prohibitive.
