GILLINGHAM slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season as they were shattered by a Marlon Harewood hat-trick on Wednesday night at the City Ground.
Injury-hit Gills fell behind as early as the fourth minute when Harewood opened his account from close range.
Gillingham player-manager Andy Hessenthaler levelled in the sixth minute from an excellent cross from Forest old boy Chris Hope.
Guy Ipoua missed three clear-cut chances for Gillingham before Harewood restored Forest's lead from the penalty spot in the 16th minute after Roland Edge had tripped him.
David Johnson made it 3-1 in the 39th minute before Harewood completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute.
