CHARLTON are expected to complete the signing of Dutch international striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on a free transfer from Middlesbrough.
The 34-year-old was at The Valley on Monday to undergo a medical after agreeing personal terms at the weekend.
The Addicks succeeded in a second attempt to sign the player who was ready to join last summer until the deal collapsed over personal terms with Hasselbaink sat in Alan Curbishley's office.
Charlton believe Hasselbaink's experience will aid the development of 22-year-old top-scorer Darren Bent in a new-look strike partnership.
Hasselbaink cost Leeds £2million when he first arrived in England from Boavista in July, 1997. He returned abroad for a spell with Atletico Madrid who sold him to Chelsea for £15million in July, 2004 .
He left Stamford Bridge on a free to join Middlesbrough last summer.
Hasselbaink finished his first season at the Riverside as the club's 16-goal leading scorer. Hasselbaink follows 18-year-old Simon Walton into The Valley after his signing last week from Leeds as head coach Iain Dowie sets about restructuring the squad.
