Kent snooker star Barry Hawkins was a first round casualty at the Shanghai Masters yesterday.

Hawkins, from Dartford, suffered a 5-3 defeat to world number two and defending champion Stephen Maguire.

Four seeded players were high-profile casualties in the first-round. Former world champions Shaun Murphy and Peter Ebdon, world Championship finalist Ali Carter and home favourite Ding Junhui were all knocked out.
